Help Us in a Second Fight Against Cancer

Dear friends and supporters,

We are reaching out for your help in supporting our dear and valued friend Nick through the next several difficult months. Nick Yeoman is an amazing and dedicated father. His face lights up every time he talks about his two beautiful girls, and joyously laughs as he describes the adventures they have. The girls are truly the light of his life, and now Nick is up against an unimaginable ordeal.

His oldest daughter was recently diagnosed with cancer, which she has handled with courage and grace. Unfortunately, this isn’t her first time on a cancer crusade. In August 2020, she was diagnosed with cancer at the height of the Covid pandemic. She spent a few months away from home receiving cancer treatments in Vancouver. Thankfully, she was then able to return home and spend three years without any signs of cancer. In spite of this, she has now commenced her second crusade to beat cancer at BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, facing many months of treatment.

Nick’s oldest daughter is a very creative secondary student and loves school and French classes. She enjoys drawing, painting, dance classes, and hanging out with her friends. It is especially heartbreaking that she will miss these experiences and friends for the remainder of this school year due to all treatments taking place away from home.

Nick’s youngest daughter is a middle school student that is very active with dance and swim team in their hometown. She will be visiting her sister in Vancouver as often as her busy schedule permits.

Nick grew up in Summerland, and after attending college and living in several cities, he returned to raise his daughters. Throughout the years, Nick has been a dedicated supporter of local businesses and community organizations, generously offering his assistance, promotion, and services. His commitment to community well-being is evident through his involvement with several notable entities, including the SADI Youth Club, PENSAR, and the Agur Lake Camp Society. In addition, Nick's passion for free connectivity led him to spend many volunteer hours setting up the Summerland Highway Wifi Hotspot and creating the Summerland landing page.

Nick sat as the Chief Technology Officer on the founding Board of Directors for Stop-A-Bully. While volunteering on the Board of Directors for South Okanagan Similkameen Crime Stoppers, Nick guided the organization’s technological direction and initiatives to coordinate with a highly successful social media marketing campaign. Nick’s knowledge and leadership skills led to his position of vice-president, and later president.

You can join us as we all come together to help Nick alleviate some of the financial burden so he can focus on both daughters and be there for them through this difficult time. His daughter has been so brave and is determined to beat cancer again, and you can help to ensure she has her dad and her sister by her side as much as possible over the next several months.

How you can help Nick:

  • Support him with a monetary gift; anything you can offer will help: helpnick@cancercrusade.ca

  • Fund the cost of his frequent trips between Summerland and Vancouver (800 km round trip).
  • Assist with his share of medical bills not fully covered by either BC Medical Services or insurance.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Nick is raising a remarkable young woman who continues to be an inspiration to us all.

Sincerely,
Friends of Nick
